1. May I apply for more than one scholarship?
Yes, with one exception. You may apply for either Women In Transition or Women In Need, but not both. Although these two scholarships are similar, they have different eligibility requirements. Complete a cover sheet for each application for which you are applying, but send only one set of attachments.
 
2. Does EFWA offer scholarships for Masters Programs?
No. The Women In Transition and Women In Need scholarships are for undergraduate students, and the Laurels scholarship is for Ph.D. students.
 
3. Does EFWA offer financing for CPA study?
No
 
4. Does EFWA offer any scholarships other than those on the web site?
No.
 
5. Are the scholarships offered only to women?
Yes.
 
6. Does a scholarship applicant have to be a US citizen?
Yes.
 
7. Do I have to attend school in the United States to qualify for the scholarships?
Yes. Only schools in the United States qualify.
 
8. Do I have to be going to school for a degree in accounting to qualify?
Yes; however, some colleges offer Bachelors degrees in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. This also qualifies.
 
9. Do online or remote classes qualify for scholarships?
Possibly.
 
10. Do Associates degrees qualify?
If you are planning to transfer to a four-year college to get a Bachelors degree after completing your Associates degree, you may qualify for the Women In Transition and Women In Need scholarships.
 
11. Are scholarships offered every year?
No, but EFWA offers scholarships every year in which it has adequate funding.
 
12. When will the next application be available?
Scholarship applications are updated online at www.efwa.org in January. Scholarships may not be offered each year, so check the web site in January to determine if the scholarship you are interested in is being offered for the next school year.
 
13. When is the deadline?
The deadline is May 1 for most the scholarships, May 30 for Laurels.
 
14. Should letters of recommendation be mailed directly to EFWA?
No. Have letters of recommendation sent to you and include them with the application packet you mail to EFWA.
 
15. Should transcripts be mailed directly to EFWA?
No. Have transcripts sent to you. Keep them in their original, sealed envelopes and include them with the application packet you mail to EFWA.
 
16. When are scholarship recipients chosen?
Scholarship recipients are selected by June 30.
 
17. When will I be notified if I am chosen to receive a scholarship?
All applicants are notified by mail as soon as possible after June 30.
 
18. If I am not chosen to receive a scholarship, may I apply again next year?
Yes, if you still meet the criteria for the scholarship.
 
19. Do scholarship applicants have to be widowed or divorced to qualify?
If you are single and the sole support of your child(ren) you may be considered for the Women In Transition and Women In Need scholarships.
 
20. Do I have to have children to qualify for the Women In Transition and Women In Need scholarships?
Yes. These scholarships are offered only to women who are the sole support of their child(ren).
 
21. Do my children have to be a school age for me to qualify for the Women In Transition and Women In Need scholarships?
Applicants for these scholarships must have at least one dependent child to qualify.
