Women In Accounting: Making Progress?

How many women in your company are in leadership positions? How many women do you know who are in leadership positions in other organizations? Are they from accounting and finance? Throughout my career and in my volunteer work I’ve been involved in a variety of leadership initiatives for both men and women of all ages and at various stages of their careers. Although women have made some headway in the last few years, more progress is necessary. How will this happen?

Sandra B. Richtermeyer, CMA, CPA, Ph.D., is currently a professor of accountancy and associate dean of the Williams College of Business at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, and she is the incoming dean of the Manning School of Business at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. She has held many leadership roles in a variety of organizations and regularly consults with and provides training for boards on governance best practices and leadership challenges. A former IMA Chair, Sandy represents IMA on the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) and is a member of IMA’s Cincinnati North Chapter.
